The Personal Version of Me: Stories and Hobbies

Greetings!
While I have plenty of information about the professional version of me, let me take a moment to introduce you to the personal version.

The general biography
I’m a wife to my ever-so-patient husband, and mother to two amazing teen daughters. Aside from the humans that I love, I also have four cats and have officially become a crazy cat lady! Interestingly, I had never had a cat until I was a grown woman. My husband introduced them to me, and I think he might wish he hadn’t! We have lived in Waxahachie, Texas, for over 20 years. I was born and raised in Texas and can’t really imagine living anywhere else!

As for some of my hobbies
My favorite seasons are Spring and Fall. I’m an avid gardener and love planting flowers and herbs, focusing on Texas natives and those with medicinal uses. I also enjoy hunting and identifying native mushrooms. Having spent a large portion of my childhood hanging out in the public library while my mother worked, I have a deep love of reading and learning. My preferences are non-fiction and general research reading. I truly believe you are never too old to learn something new. As a matter of fact, I began ukulele lessons in 2021 and violin and cello lessons in 2022. I had never played an instrument before. While I certainly won’t be putting on any concerts, it brings me great joy to play for relaxation. I also taught myself to speak Spanish. A tiny amount of Spanish. I intend to improve my skills once I am done with school. I genuinely feel like my brain is getting a good “stretch” when I begin learning something new!

Thank you for giving me a moment of your time
I hope that my love of learning will inspire others to pursue knowledge, so they too can feel their minds grow.
